Council to takeover up to 60 to 70 estates within weeks

UP to 70 housing estates need to be taken over by Mayo Region Council in the next three weeks. Bob McMyler of Mayo County Government told last week's Strategic Insurance policy Committee meeting that the local authority or 16802 council is planning to take over 58 to 70 estates next three weeks in 'an ambitious programme'.

Mr McMyler told the committee in which although the issue of delivering developer bonds remains, this council could still takeover whilst it continued to work on 'getting money' on the developers to finish off the places.

"At least by going in we're feeling we're forcing the fretting hand [of the developers]," 16775 he said. As they acknowledged that the council received yet to make a decision on a further 400 estates, he said your upcoming takeovers were 'a big step'.

Very good Gael councillor 15791 Eugene McCormack said it was 'welcome news' and had their full support. His emotions were echoed by Sinn Fin councillor Gerry Murray. "At prolonged last [the council is] making a few progress," he said, 16993 incorporating that he would like to see the authority put down ramps in places where speeding was a difficulty.
